Congratulations to Dale at Golf Districts yesterday. He played some truly exceptional golf. He proudly represented WDS and we are proud of him.
Great work to the Jr Girls grade 7 and 8 teams on their game last night! Thanks to Austyn and Dana for their help with reffing.
The Jr Golf wind up is on Friday after school at the Strasbourg course. Make up a team of 3-4 kids, choose a team theme and register with Mrs. Heisler. Prizes for best dressed team!
Remember Terry Fox Run pledge forms are due on Friday! You can bring them to Mrs. Heisler as soon as you are done collecting them.

Band and Choir start today! Beginner Band will start after this morning’s bus drill and that will be everyone in grades 4 and 5 that were NOT in Band last year. Miss Hill will have the schedule posted on the Band room door. Senior Band and Choir times remain the same as last year.
Congratulations to Calen, Cooper, Ethan and Brody for their excellent play at Senior Golf Pre-Districts in Lanigan yesterday. The boys represented our school well. Brody will be moving on to the District Championships in Humboldt next week. Well done!

Wednesday, September 9, 2026 - Day 5E
The library is closed for lunch today. There will be a Yearbook Committee meeting at lunch today in the library. Please bring your lunch. If you have not signed up, but are interested in joining the Yearbook Committee, please attend.
The High School Rodeo is coming up this weekend! We are still looking for a couple of volunteers for Sunday. The two available shifts are from 11:00 - 2:00 and 2:00 - 5:00. If you are able to help out (and want to earn some volunteer hours), please come see Mr. Wachal at first break.
Grade 7-12 Cross Country - It is still a bit too wet for cross-country, so there will be no practice today.. We should be able to go by tomorrow!
Grades 1-6 Cross Country start up will be announced once details are worked out. Please stay tuned.
The golf course is still a little too wet, so Jr Golf try outs will be on Thursday AND Friday after school. Please do your best to make it to one. Let Mrs. Heisler know if you can’t make it.

For those inquiring about Flag Football, it will be offered in the spring. Ms Lowe is our Athletic Director here at William Derby so please see her if you have questions about the athletic programs.

There will be NO Cross-Country practice today. Practices will begin on Tuesday, September 8th and will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday next week. If possible, try and get a run or two in over the long weekend!
WDS Canteen can’t run without the awesome volunteers. We will be meeting in the library today at the end of the first period. If you would like to hear what’s involved to volunteer in the canteen this year, please join us. All grade 7-12 students are welcome.
